Reflecting On My 2020 Goals

Reflecting On My 2020 Goals
March 1, 2020

I went back and read my goals for 2020 that I had written on December 31, 2019. I also thought about my #OneWord2020. I decided it was time to evaluate my progress so far.

My Goals:
  • Write Everyday
  • Stop Snacking
I am writing everyday thanks to the #100daysofnotebooking group. I even started keeping two notebooks to help meet this goal. I keep one for random thoughts, ideas and reflections. The other notebook I use to flex my creative muscle. I sometime just write in this notebook, but I also play around with colors, shapes and drawings as way to creatively publish my writing, as well.

As for the goal of not snacking, I can't say I have been successful. I have had to accept that I am going to snack. I can, however, make wise choices that will help me achieve the why behind making this particular goal. In my mind, snacks are salty and sweet treats and desserts, i.e. unhealthy. I really just wanted a way to avoid the negative effects these foods have on my body, and my mental state, as I always regret making these food choices. So, going forward, rather than trying not to snack, I simply have to choose to eat healthy snacks that are a benefit to my body.

My #OneWord2020:
  • DETERMINED
All in all, I am very please with myself and my progress toward meeting the goals I have set for 2020. I remain DETERMINED to continue putting forth my very best effort toward successfully making them a STANDARD in my life beyond 2020.

  1. You demonstrate determination and dedication as well! That's great you are a part of a group to obtain your goal! Kudos! Good point you make about the snacks.

  2. I happy to see so many notebookers join the challenge. Two supportive groups coming together. It can only be a good thing. Right?

  3. Determined is a strong one word that has already provided you with a head start. I am trying to eat healthy snacks like celery and carrots because I love to chew. I think Lent is helping me refrain from cookies and candy. As humans, we are inclined to add comfort foods to our diet, especially in winter. Here's to meeting our goals, especially our writing ones.

  4. Donnetta, I love how you are keeping two notebooks. That's a great idea! I've been journaling about my snacking. It's helping, but it's a hard habit to break! I'm glad you're here!

  5. Oh, girl. The snacks. That's my downfall. Especially between 3-5pm. It's not good. :-(

  7. Hooray for the 100 days of note booking. My friend Dawn is doing that too. I’ve kept up with some people doing that on twitter and I’m so inspired. Hopefully you’ll share some of your notebook work here this month.

  8. I love the one word. It is great way to focus. My word two years ago was "positive". I wanted to stay positive even though there were lots of negative talk around me. I didn't have one last year. You motivated me to start thinking of one for this year.

  9. I am so glad you are joining all of the writing groups. Having a support system is the key, I think. But now for that snacking...I can't support you in that one!

  10. Donnetta,
Those are great goals for 2020. All the best to you as you continue your focus on writing. You have been an inspiration to me more than once in the #100DaysofNotebooking challenge. I'm going to give this Slice of Life a try this month too.

Maybe I can try to be inspired by the healthy snacking goal too! I'll think about that.
