Linger - SOS no. 91

In the summer, the days were long, stretching into each other. Out of school, everything was on pause and yet happening at the same time, this collection of weeks when anything was possible.

[Sarah Dessen, Along for the Ride]

I heard it said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Sarah Dessen's words about summer caused me to think of the flip-side of the coin - the school year.

I invite my readers to linger, but only for a moment, as it is summer after all.

In the fall, winter and spring, the days are lengthy, extending one into another. During the school year, everything is fast-paced ~ moving, changing, and happening very quickly; and yet time seems to stand still, this collection of months when ALL things must get done.

  3. I like how you use the mentor text to create your own. The contrast of the school and summer time comes out very well.
