Yesterday, after reading and commenting on some well-written slices, I notebooked about how other people's stories can spark ideas. This is, at least, true for me.
Later, I was reading a #MinuteMemoir posted by a writing friend in a different group, and I was reminded of a similar memory from my childhood.
As I wrote and posted my memory, I thought about how, as an adult, I refuse to eat the three staple meals my mom used to have on rotation most weeks.
I shouldn't find it mind-blowing how someone else's experiences can lead to our own memories and connections, but sometimes, my mind is blown when I think about it.
So true-- it is mind-blowing how we connect with others ideas and thoughts and thread through our own tapestry of experiences. I love that you reflect in notebook on others' writing with an eye/ear to your own. I will try that!
ReplyDeleteAnd that triggered the core group of dishes my mom and grandmother used to make -- in heavy rotation. LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour slice reminds me of how 'small' the world is. People around the world seem to have very similar experiences.
ReplyDeleteThe mind, especially the mind of a writer, is quite the infrastructure that allows ideas to flow this way and that - connect, remind! It is mind blowing!
ReplyDeleteOh - I think I jsut found my slice for tomorrow. Funny how those sparks work!
ReplyDeleteAnother reason to let kids share their writing and ideas!
